A Ma Gao

Legend has it that Macao derives its name from an ancient temple very near to the first Portuguese landing in mid 1500's (About the time when they just invaded Malacca). The Portoguese asked a fisherman the name of the place, and the fisherman told the Portuguese that this is A Ma's Temple (A Ma Gao). The Portugeuese then took it to be the name of the place and called it Macao.
We went to see the old temple, which is the green temple in the pics. The A Ma temple is also the oldest building in Macao - older than any Portuguese structures.
Ps. Jeff, very true, it is almost similar to Malacca. However, not very, as the Portuguese only left Macao eight years ago (compared to Malacca 366 years ago in 1641).
Ps. That's how I understood how the name Macao came to be. Please excuse any historical and factual error.

I was in Macao recently. Had to fly to HK and took the superfast ferry directly from the airport to the City. It was a 10-hour journey door-to-door! Probably it would be faster (and cheaper) if i took Air Asia which has a direct flight from KUL.

Animals at the Taiping Zoo

We went to Zoo Taiping. Inilah gambar2 binatang yang diambil oleh Mummy. Junior was so busy looking at all the tractors, trains and other machines available at the Zoo. 
ps There are about 35,000 Malaysia-registered fotopages as at end Mar,2007. My entry in April 2004 recorded only 940 Malaysia-registered fotopages.

Junior went to see Tok Chu in Taiping last December. Yesterday (Mar 23), Tok Chu passed away. Alfatihah to Tok Chu.

He's always fascinated with the train (LRT), so we took him for a ride.
ps. to those worried with my son drinking Coke, please dont. He doesnt even drink milo, tea, coffee sirap etc as I make sure he only drinks his milk and water. He only has teething problem hence his penchant to bite anything. Thank you for the concern

Tanjung Bidara Melaka

We went to Masjid Tanah for a kenduri and decided to stop by Tanjung Bidara. Tanjung Bidara during the weekend is a noisy affair with people littering and smoking everywhere. There is this inconsiderate entrepreneur who set up a karaoke lounge at a wakaf. Probably the local authority thinks that this is good for the visitors.
